February 26, 1941 - July 28, 2025
DENTON - On July 28, 2025, our beloved mom, wife and grandmother, Linda Stegall, aged 84, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 26, 1941, Linda grew up in Saginaw where her parents owned and operated Saginaw Airport. She attended North Side High School and graduated with honors in 1959.
Linda had both of her children, Rhonda and Ron, before she started college to work toward her bachelor’s degree. Juggling parenthood and college courses while working a job, she earned her B.B.A Degree with honors from North Texas State University in 1966.
She taught Vocational Office Education (V.O.E.) at Richland and Castleberry High Schools and in 1970, Linda earned her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at NTSU. She was employed by Tarrant County College as an office education adjunct professor. In 1973, Linda was hired at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Post Secondary Division in Austin, Texas, before moving her family to Arlington Texas, for a position with the Dallas County College system as Vice President of Instruction at El Centro College and Mountain View College. In 1984, she walked across the stage to receive her Doctorate Degree in Higher Education Administration from North Texas State University. Always one to inspire others, she would later reflect that it took her 23 years to complete one goal. She believed it was never too late to chase a dream.
In 1999, Linda was offered her dream job as president of Lonestar College Kingwood. It was during her tenure there that she saw enrollment almost double. Under her leadership, various 2-year programs were added such as a nursing program and dental hygiene program which immediately enrolled to capacity. The opening of a state-of-the-art Health and Science building stands as one of her greatest accomplishments. After working in education for over 42 years, she retired in 2008 to spend more time with her family and moved from The Woodlands back to the area where she grew up. Together, she and Eddie built their current home in Denton at Robson Ranch overlooking the golf course’s 7th hole.
She reserved a special place in her heart for the love of her life, her husband, Eddie. On March 19, they celebrated 43 years of marriage. Having retired in 2008, Linda and Eddie enjoyed traveling around the world, especially with their many friends. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren as someone who embraced life and loved her family. Always up for an adventure, she loved helping her grown kids with home projects and would roll up her sleeves to help. Linda loved throwing Halloween parties for her grandkids, taking them on ski trips and horseback riding in Red River. She planned girl trips to Santa Fe, N.M. and acquired such a love for the city, she purchased a home there with her daughter for future generations to enjoy.
